Mary joined Everett Schmenk Insurance Agency, Inc. in the fall of 1973. She has worked under the original owner, Everett Schmenk, then his son, Robert Schmenk, and now under Cynthia Fortman. Mary graduated from International Business School, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Mary and her husband, John, have three children, Don, Craig, and Michael, along with five grandchildren, Kailey, Jaylen, Madeline, Ava, and Brianna, and one great-grandchild, Zaiden. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and walking.
